Mi Casa TheatreEmerging from lockdown, with resilience.Creating artistic opportunities for actors, writers, and directors in post-lockdown Melbourne, Mi Casa Theatre was co-founded by Luisa Tascone and Eliza Charley in February 2021 to help as many actors as possible to get back on stag - with content worth talking about and reconnect the community after isolation.
Their Basement Live model utilises a pop-up model for fast-turnaround events to allow new work to be heard with large casts of actors in between lockdowns. |
Doctors Meet Arts WorkersSolving childcare while helping artists."Welcome! The premise is simple - We are in a worsening pandemic. Actors need work, and Healthcare workers need childcare." This was the message that started it all on 18 March 2020.
Doctors Meet Arts Workers was started by Eliza Charley as a rapid response to the Covid-19 crisis unfolding in Australia (9News, Star News and SBS News). The group rapidly grew to 2.4k members in two weeks, along with an administration team of four (Film director, Caroline Dehn; Dance & mental health researcher, Hannah Friebel; Music Theatre performer, Beth Hanlon; and Muscian & Artisan, Cat Jensen). In August 2021, the group has returned to face the renewed crisis. |
Hope Heroes CollectiveA better quality of life for those with chronic disease."Facing chronic disease is challenging enough; battling it alone is even tougher." - Eliza Charley, Founder of Hope Heroes Collective, 2019.
Through the sharing of patient-led stories, we encounter a wealth of wisdom drawn from our lived experience; backed by scientific evidence. In the face of social & medical responses that say "everyone is different" and "there is nothing that can be done," we instead choose to focus on what we have in common. This is especially true when it comes to the notoriously maligned and neglected disease Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, and other infection-associated chronic conditions, including Dysautonomia, POTS and now Long Covid. This initiative is now being re-developed to adapt to the growing number of people suffering from this disease as the current COVID-19 pandemic continues. |
